Privacy Policy

NotchIt is built so your scripts, recordings and voice stay with you. This page lists exactly what information passes through the website and the app, and where it goes.

Last updated: November 4, 2026

In short

  • We have no server that receives your scripts, recordings or voice.
  • There is no payment. Signing in with Apple on the iPhone is optional and is kept on the iPhone only.
  • Speech recognition runs on your Mac or iPhone itself. Audio is never sent anywhere.
  • The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or advertising, and loads nothing from outside services.
  • We do not sell information or share it for advertising.

Who is responsible

The website and the app are operated by the developer of NotchIt, who publishes the app on the App Store in his own name ("we"). For any privacy question, email us at tamir1910@gmail.com.

The website

The website is a static page. It has no forms and no sign-up, so it collects no personal details from you.

  • Hosting: the site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel logs technical data for each request, such as IP address, browser type and time, to run and secure the service, and keeps it for a limited time under its own policy. We do not use this data to identify visitors.
  • Fonts and images: every file of the site, including the font, is served from the site itself. Your browser does not contact Google or any other outside service while you browse it.
  • Download links: the iPhone download button leads to Apple’s App Store. Only if you click it do you go to Apple’s site, where Apple’s privacy policy applies.
  • Accessibility menu: the settings you choose (text size, contrast and so on) are saved in your browser only (Local Storage) and are never sent to us.
  • Cookies: the site sets no cookies and uses no tracking, analytics or advertising tools. A notice says so on your first visit; once you confirm it, that confirmation is saved in your browser (Local Storage) so the notice does not return.

The Mac and iPhone app

The app works without a server of ours. Here is how it handles each kind of information:

  • Sign in with Apple (iPhone, optional): if you choose to sign in, Apple gives the app an anonymous user identifier and your first name (if you agree to share it). Both are kept on the iPhone only, to greet you by name, and are never sent to us or anyone else. You can continue without an account. To delete the account: the app’s Settings › Account › Delete account, and iPhone Settings › your account › Sign in with Apple.
  • Scripts: saved as files on your device.
  • Microphone and speech recognition: the app listens so the text scrolls as you speak. Recognition runs on the device, and audio is never sent to any server, ours or anyone else’s.
  • Camera and recordings: in the recording studio, videos are saved on your device. The app saves a video to Photos only when you ask it to.
  • iCloud sync (optional, off by default): if you turn it on, your scripts are stored in the private database of your own iCloud account so they match on your Mac and iPhone. Only the account owner can read that database; we have no access to it. Apple’s privacy policy applies to that data.
  • iPhone-to-Mac link: runs on your local network only, over an encrypted connection.
  • Speech models: the first time, the app may download a recognition model from Hugging Face. This is an ordinary download request, so your IP address is visible to that server. None of your content is sent.
  • Updates: the Mac app downloaded from our site does not check for updates on its own and contacts no update server. App Store copies are updated through Apple.
  • Diagnostic files (Mac): the app writes a technical log on your Mac only (in Library/Logs/NotchIt), such as which recognition engine started and when sync ran. It contains neither your script nor what you said, and is never sent anywhere.
  • Crash reports from Apple: if you chose in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us crash reports and usage statistics without identifying details. We use them only to fix bugs. You can turn sharing off in your device’s privacy settings.
  • Google Slides extension for Chrome: reads the speaker notes of the current slide and passes them only to the app on your computer, never to a server. It has permission for Google Slides pages only.
  • Screen sharing: the text window is marked by the operating system as not shareable, so it does not appear in screen shares or screen recordings.

Permissions the app asks for

Microphone and speech recognition (scrolling with your voice), camera (recording studio), local network (iPhone-to-Mac link), add to Photos (saving a video), and control of PowerPoint and Keynote (reading speaker notes and changing slides). You can revoke any permission at any time in System Settings; the feature that depends on it simply stops working.

Information you send us

If you email us, we use your details and message only to reply. We do not pass them on and do not add you to any mailing list. You can ask us to delete the correspondence at any time.

Sharing with others

We do not sell information, share it for advertising, or track you across apps or websites. The only information that reaches third parties is the technical data described above (Vercel; Apple if you turn on iCloud sync, sign in with Apple or allow analytics sharing; Hugging Face if you download a model), each under its own privacy policy. We disclose information to an authority only if the law requires us to.

Legal basis (visitors from the EU and UK)

  • Logging website requests and keeping the site secure: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • iCloud sync, Sign in with Apple and model downloads: you turn these on yourself to get the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Replying to your emails: our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Crash reports from Apple: the consent you gave in your device settings (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

How long information is kept

  • Scripts, recordings and settings stay on your device until you delete them. Deleting the app removes them from the device, except videos you saved to Photos and copies in your iCloud, which you manage.
  • Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your request, and at most 24 months after the last message, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or the law requires us to keep it longer.
  • Vercel’s server logs are kept for a limited time under Vercel’s retention policy.

Transfers outside Israel

Vercel and Apple may process the technical data described here outside your country, including in the United States. These companies rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), with security settings that stop other sites from embedding it. The iPhone-to-Mac link is encrypted and opens only after pairing with a one-time code. We keep no central database of user information, so there is no such database to break into. No security measure is perfect, but everywhere we choose the option that keeps the least information.

Children

The website and app are not directed at children under 13 and collect no information from them. No personal information reaches us in any case.

Your rights

Under Israel’s Protection of Privacy Law, 1981, and the law of the country you live in, you may:

  • Review the information held about you and get a copy of it.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information or delete information.
  • Object to or ask us to restrict the use of information, and withdraw consent you gave.
  • Complain to Israel’s Privacy Protection Authority, or to the data protection authority of your country in the EU or the UK.

Since we hold no information about app users, in practice this mostly concerns correspondence with us. Write to tamir1910@gmail.com and we will reply within 30 days. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA. Because the site does no tracking, signals such as Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control do not change how it works.

Changes

If we change how the app or website handles information, we will update this page and the date at its top before the change takes effect.
